Beauty Secrets – The Ultimate Guide
We’ve all experienced a fashion emergency or wished we could improve out beauty regimen with easy, inexpensive adjustments. So here are some quick and easy ways to stave off that unsightly pimple, keep under eye bags at bay and have gorgeous skin all year long.
Pimple Rx
Feel a pimple coming on and can’t walk around with chalky white toothpaste on your face? Try dabbing some of your perfume on the blemish a few times throughout the day. The alcohol in the perfume will help dry it out (plus you’ll smell great!).
Sleep better
Have trouble falling asleep but you’ve exhausted your sleep aid prescription? Why not try to catch some Z’s the natural way? Lavender is known to promote alpha waves, which are necessary for restful sleep. Try soaking in a bath before bed with Lavender salts or Lavender oil.
Here’s another idea: take a Lavender face pillow and pop it in the microwave on low for a couple of minutes, then place inside your pillowcase. Put your arms over your head and clasp hands, then stretch your clasped arms as far to the right as possible (make sure you remain comfortable) and then back over your body to the left. Repeat about five times. Breathe in deeply as you do these stretches, which will get the oxygen flowing.
Perfect that Pout
We can only dream of having lips like Angelina-well naturally anyway. Most of us have at least thought about using a lip plumper, hoping to look in the mirror and see gloriously luscious lips smiling back at us. The key is getting lips ready for lip plumper, so it can penetrate and do its job.
Here’s a little trick that won’t cost you a dime. Apply a small amount of Vaseline on a soft bristle tooth brush that’s been moistioned with warm water. Ever so gently brush lips for about 2 minutes-you might want to do this while watching TV, two minutes can feel like forever. Remove the Vaseline with moistened towelette or soft washcloth and then blot dry. Apply moisturizer, sunscreen and lip plumper. Then go show off your beautifully plumped lips.
p.s. If you don’t want to splurge on a store-bought lip plumper, dab a tiny-and we mean tiny-amount of Cayenne pepper on your lips. It’ll sting a little, but what’s a little pain in the name of looking gorgeous?
Baby Soft Skin
Wonder why some women appear to have plump, hydrated skin even in the middle of winter while yours is so dry it hurts to smile? Chances are those other ladies are doing a few things differently-or else they are genetically perfect and we don’t like them anyway.
When it comes to keeping your skin hydrated it only makes sense to drink lots of water. Water keeps the cells in your body quenched, so your skin looks luminous and your appetite is curbed (great skin and a trim figure-it’s too for the price of one!). You’ve heard it before but we’ll say it again, get eight 8oz glasses a day. Your skin will thank you.
Here’s something you may not have heard before: distilled water is the best for drinking because chlorine and other contaminants are greatly reduced when the water is boiled. To hydrate your skin throughout the day try a purified water mister.
Moisturizing Basics
The best time to moisturize is immediately after bathing when your body is damp and moist. Smooth on Body Butter, Body Cream, or Body Lotion to lock in moisture. And you don’t have to spend a lot of money.
Some may think the more expensive a moisturizer is, the more effective it will be against dry skin. But this really is a myth. That’s not to say expensive lotions don’t make us feel more luxurious (even if it’s just because we know how much it cost). But the good news is-especially if you don’t have a $200 a month beauty budget-is that you can still yourself to radiant, glowing skin for the cost of your daily Starbucks and muffin, just by visiting your local drugstore. There are lots of great moisurizers that hydrate and condition dry, thirsty skin with natural ingredients like shea butter and vitamin E.
In addition to applying lotion daily, here are some other helpful tips to keep skin smooth during the winter months:
- Keep your shower times shorter and limit your exposure to hot water. Try turning on the radio and limiting yourself to just 2-3 songs as a guide.
- Avoid intense scrubbing while showering. Choose a soft soap rather than an exfolient. Here’s an idea. The SALUX Beauty Skin Cloth gently exfoliates the skin with a special texture that stimulates blood circulation, while requiring you to use less soap.
- Don’t forget your sunscreen! Sun damage can still happen with clouds in the sky, so it’s very important to continue to wear no less than SPF 15 every day.
Frizz-free hair
On the go and forgot your hair pomade? Don’t freak out-and certainly don’t let your hair freak out. Apply a small dollup of hand lotion in your hands, then gently smooth hands over your hair. This will help to tame unruly hair. You can also use a tiny amount of Vaseline on the ends of your hair.
For future hair emergencies, make sure to pick up one of these great products to keep on hand and in your medicine cabinet: Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream , Biosilk Silk Therapy, which also doubles as a great skin salve, and Aveda Brilliant Emollient Finishing Gloss.
De-puff eyes
Trust me I’ve become a pro at de-puffing eyes. Computer strain, too little sleep, too much sleep, stress-you name it and it makes my eyes puff up like a cream cheese wonton. If you’re looking for a quick fix that’s more effective than cucumbers, try a green tea or black tea bag (it must contain caffeine). Dip it in hot water then toss it in the freezer for 5 minutes. If you have some foresight pop an anti-histamine like Benedryl the night before and you’ll wake up bag-free. Supplements can help with puffiness too. MSM with Glucosamine, Flax Oil and Evening Primrose Oil seem to help alleviate puffiness.
Fake tan streaks
With all the publicity about skin cancer you feel guilty getting a tan the old fashioned way. So you tried a self-tanner or maybe you opted for the Mystic Tan booth. Unfortunately you ended up with the telltale streaks on your arms, legs, feet … okay everywhere. Don’t worry, you don’t have to wear a turtleneck and pants until it fades. Hop in the shower right away (some will inevitably come off anyway) and generously rub down with an exfoliating body scrub followed by a rigorous scrubbing with a loofah. For really bad cases around the ankles, feet, elbows and hands (usually the driest parts of your body), you can use a callous file to eliminate unsightly streaks. We don’t recommend incorporating these measures into your regular routine but if you’ve got a hot date or a big event you can’t exactly show up looking like you got in a fight with a can of orange spray paint either.
Better yet–avoid rubbing your skin raw with St. Tropez Self-Tan Remover. Like magic it removes unsightly stains from your palms and other body parts if you mess up (the only caveat: it only works up to 4 hours after you apply self tanner). Find it at Sephora, Bath and Body Works, Victoria’s Secret and Red Door Salons.
For a more even self-tanner application, try Tan Airbrush in a Can. We love it!

Fashion – Shopping For Big Or Thin Bodies
Many say clothing makes a person, but we still dress shabby every now and then. It’s good to put on our best when we are under watch. One can do that by availing enough resources on fashion and do ones best to meet with the latest trend.
Clothing is always as important as our attitude and finding fashions that flatter our body line and skin tone is quite possible. Shopping for wear is quite cumbersome, we should absolutely be sure of what we want to buy and our appearance to others.
It’s always better to take someone with us when we go shopping and it is good to go shopping at off peak hours, so we get plenty of space and racks free to choose from and will always have a fitting room empty with the a sales girl ready to help us.
Looking thin is a daunting task and big is not so easy, so the correct selection of clothes matters. A small gain in weight will make ones clothes feel tighter and slightly oversize clothing will make you look big. One will have to strike a balance between the size and the shades.
There are many tips and hints to look thinner and they can be listed accordingly,
o Get a good fit
o Select dark and solid shades
o Dress not in patterns but all in one color
o If you intend to wear patterns, wear small ones that overlap
o Go for vertical rather than horizontal stripes
o Avoid shiny clothes like velour or satin
o High heels add height and shape to legs
o Skirts should fall right above the knee for longer looking legs
o Instead of pleats flat pants and skirts should be preferred
o Select open collar shirts, v-neck shirts and scoop neck lines so that the torso appears longer
o Dresses with matching coat can hide bulges
o To have a flatten tummy look go for a thick waist band
Everyone has flaws but a few don’t really want to accept who they are. For those people they may just want to work on mitigating those flaws. It helps to stand up straight, have a nice posture and move with grace, for by doing this, one not only looks taller but also radiate energy, self confidence and elegance. To know one’s body and what looks good on it, use your experience to your advantage and believe in your intuition. At times fashion and beauty etiquette are natural, feel free to experiment. Now people have different tastes, some like modern and some vintage, vintage makes you stand out and it’s easy and economical and you can meet your budget, many say, ” I wear vintage, so I can add a little something retro to my clothing and not look the same as every one else”.
Just because one is large doesn’t mean that one has to wear boring. There are an increasing number of women who wants to look fashionable and modern without looking frumpy. Now fashion designers too are listening to customers and are responding with creating attractive plus-size fashions, although it’s difficult to find larger clothing in many parts of the world or they are very limited. Even more daunting is choosing appropriate styles that will disguise our flaws and help us look leaner.
There is excitement all around every spring when new fashions emerge and we say goodbye to the winter trends. What is interesting is that every new year, we see some versatile styles that fit within our tight budget. Hey! It’s a new year again, let’s go out and look for those new styles.

Jeans, tops, jewelry, bags, shoes, accessories. These are just some of the basic items that constitute to what women’s fashion consists of, and what you will find in the wardrobe of every woman all over the world. After all, what are women famous for if not for their women’s fashion apparel that comes in all sorts of shapes, designs and styles and is ever changing according to the style trend of the moment.
In the old days, if women wanted some new fashion or clothing item, they would manually have to go out to the department store or to their favourite boutique and pick out what they like. These days however, times have changed and thanks to modern and technology and a little thing we call the internet, it is now possible for women to purchase their jeans, tops, jewelry, bags, shoes and accessories through a new medium – the internet.
The internet is indeed a beautiful tool, because it allows us to access it anytime and anywhere, regardless of where we are in the world or what time of day it is and it is easily accessible to everyone. And you can get anything and everything you want on the internet too, no matter what it is from fashion clothing to jewelry, to bags and shoes, you name it they’ve got it online and in all the latest trends, styles and colors too.
Another thing about the internet which makes it such a popular medium for shopping for ladies fashion clothing is that you can get a wide variety of styles from anywhere across the globe. The internet is not restricted by geographical boundaries and you can easily access anything you want from anywhere around the world. And if you happen to see a fashionable piece of clothing that you like, you can purchase it there is no stopping you as long as you have the means to pay for it.
One another great tip? You can access all the latest trends and styles of all the ladies fashion you want, from any designer you want! How great is that? This will definitely thrill all those brand-conscious fashionistas out there who are always on the lookout for the latest developments from their favourite fashion designer because now they can get their hands on it with just a click of the mouse, it is that simple.
With the internet, your options are not limited as well, because you have access to shops and boutiques from all over the place. This means that you are able to compare products, compare prices, compare stores against each other until you find the one that offers you the best value for your money and offers you something which you like instead of having to settle for second best, as you probably would do if you were to hunt for your ladies fashion clothing the old fashion way by manually going to the stores and boutiques.
Because the internet can give information about anything and everything we need related to fashion, it is not merely restricted to clothing either. You can also get other tips from the internet, such as tips on garment care, washing tips, hot trends, fashion clothing, fashion horoscopes and so much more.
The internet is in fact a great tool for shopping for women’s fashion clothing today and judging from the latest trends, it will only keep getting better.
Plus Size Fashion Shopping Online
I am often surprised by people’s reaction when I tell them that I bought my latest dress off the Internet. They cannot understand how I could take the ‘risk’ of buying something so personal online, without even touching or trying it on first. This is the most common feedback I get from many friends and relatives when they compliment me on my new outfit, ask me where I got it from and I tell them… online!
The thing is, most of this feedback comes from people who are size 10 or less and who do not understand how much of a distressing experience clothes shopping can be for a lady who is size 20.
I remember when I was younger hating going shopping with cousins or friends. Most of the time I used to end up being their shopping assistant instead of their fellow shopper; not finding anything that I liked which was in my size, would usually leave me no other option. I could not understand why most stores could not open their eyes real wide and realise that most women are curvy! It felt (and still does feel) so unfair to me that most of the fashionable styles of clothing are not available for plus sized women.
My shopping experience changed from night to day when I discovered plus size clothing stores online. I could not believe the amount of stores available online for plus size women. Stores exclusively carrying plus size fashion; apparel and accessories that looked good and that was in my size. I was ecstatic at my discovery, this eased so many of my shopping problems.
I can now say that over the years the amount of plus size stores available online has grown tremendously, and the quality of fashion available has definitely improved. Plus size store online are now able to satisfy all tastes, occasions and sizes.
I have decided to share these thoughts with you to encourage fellow plus size women who may be looking for that special outfit, or who simply want to shop for more clothes, to consider the option of shopping online because, believe me, it will open many stylish doors for you!
Here follow my seven essentials reasons why I personally shop online for most of my clothes and why I am recommending online shopping to all plus size women.
1. Size availability
Finally you no longer have to worry about whether stores carry the item you like in your size, because plus size stores online cater exclusively to plus size women’s needs. That is, they usually carry items from size 12 or 14 to size 48 and above! Most stores have their own size ranges, as some may stop at size 34 for instance while others may carry items up to size 50. This usually varies on a store by store basis.
2. Endless choice of styles
When you are out and about shopping in the usual stores, you are rather limited to the styles of clothing available at one store. Some stores may focus on formal wear rather than casual, and some may not carry swimwear or lingerie for instance. This inconvenience does not exist online. Why? Most plus size clothing stores online carry a wide variety of styles. Plus, it is easy for you whilst you are shopping around online, to switch from one store to the other if you are looking for a different style.
3. Ease of shopping
I don’t know about you but shopping is one tiring chore; walking around big stores, out of this one and into the other. By the end of the day your feet will be aching; makes you wonder why you go into all their trouble in the first place! Shopping around on the Internet just to see what’s in stock, what’s in fashion and what the price ranges are, can be done at just the click of a mouse. You can tirelessly click your way from store to store.
4. Greater selection
When shopping online for clothes I usually find that I am open to a more vast selection of items than when I’m otherwise shopping in usual stores. A store’s web-site usually lists all the items available within that particular store, so you can view everything online. The fashion available to plus size women online from the various stores available is simply endless; you will find stores to suit every taste, age and size. You will find the right store for you!
5. Save those pennies
Looking for the best priced item is much easier online. Imagine you have found an item that you would like to buy; you could easily make a note of it by book-marking the page, and before actually buying that item you can browse around the other plus size clothing stores to check whether they carry the same or similar items at a cheaper price. There are also a lot of promotions and sales going on at online plus size stores. Some stores may choose to keep you updated to their promotions by emailing you monthly newsletters, which will keep you up to date with money saving deals, coupons available and discounts.
6. Friendlier shopping experience
I don’t know about you but one thing I really hate is the nasty attitude and looks I get sometimes from shopping assistants when they tell you, “Sorry we do not carry that in your size!” Seems to me like they need some chocolate in their system! You will definitely not get any of that from most plus size stores online, as they understand the needs of big beautiful women and the friendly customer service reps are usually plus size ladies themselves.
7. Convenient!
This is definitely my favourite perk of shopping online. It is simply convenient! You can shop whenever you what, at what time you want and you can even shop in your pyjamas! You have ample of time to think about your purchase, look over the items you want to buy over and over until you make you final decision. It is just all about you and your time.
Overall shopping online is much more of a pleasant experience. Personally I shop online for a wide range of stuff, due to time constraints and everyday life; however even if I had all the time in the world I would still opt for shopping online when looking for new clothes and accessories as it is much more of a satisfying experience. I recommend online shopping at plus size fashion stores to all the big beautiful women who have trouble finding outfits they really like and which fit them well. The Internet will make you love shopping and your figure!
Making Your Own Beauty Products
Skin Care
A Combination of evil elements in the world today can take its toll on our skin. From air pollution to central heating it can all lead to one thing; skin damage.
In this article we detail how you can make homemade recipes to replenish and revive your skin. Your skin reflects what is going on inside, just like your hair does, so sometimes we have to look within to see where any problems are lying. Here are some tips on keeping your skin healthy.
- Sleep is number one, not getting enough sleep can lead to dull skin.
- Hydration is the key to healthy skin.
- Keep your skin moisturized throughout the day.
- Use facial masks at least once a week.
- Exfoliate twice a week maximum.
- Treat your face gently, do not tug or pull skin when applying make-up. This can damage the skin, and the elasticity, as you get older.
- Never go to bed with make-up on.
- Always use a higher factor sun cream on your face and your lips (they can get burnt too!)
- Vitamin A is a must for healthy skin, if you do not have enough in your diet you should think about getting it in supplement form.
- Give you skin a breather whenever possible as cosmetics can clog up the pored and this will result in spots.

What Does Beauty Really Cost?
Yes! We all want to be beautiful no matter what. We are shown what is classed as as beauty on a regular basis by the media. Fashion models who look like bean poles and who cant possibly eat chocolate or cream cakes as this would be the ultimate sin.
In reality they probably eat very little!
We are all made to be beautiful in our own way! it might not necessarily be in the way the media portray.
This is a good thing as it would be a rather boring world if we all looked exactly the same.
Time is also a big factor as we struggle to fight against it,nobody likes growing old, but are we really winning or delaying the inevitable?
What is all of this really costing us? we spend millions of pounds a year in the UK on beauty products and treatments.
How many of us know what we are really using in these products? We heard recently about parabens possibly causing cancer yet manufacturers still produce products containing them which we buy and use!
We need to look at what we are buying and what they contain!
Would you knowingly eat something containing poison or harmful ingredients? I know i wouldn’t,yet we regularly buy and use thing to so called make ourselves more beautiful without reading the labels.
Here are some of the many things to look for:
DEA,MEA,TEA(not the kind you drink) are irritants which dry the hair and skin ,also known as allergens
METHYL,PROPYL,BUTYL & ETHYL PARABENS: are food grade preservatives-used to preserve products and extend there shelf-life. considered to be highly toxic and have been found in cancerous tumors ,also allergens.
ISOPROPYL:poisonous solvent used in many products.
IMIADAZOILDINYL UREA:formaldehyde-forming preservatives, known to weaken the immune system.
PROPYLENE GLYCOL: wetting agent and solvent main ingredient in antifreeze and brake fluid.
POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL(PEG): is a caustic substance used to dissolve grease. found in oven cleaner and most skin cleansers.
Are we taking unnecessary risks by not doing a simple thing like reading a label?
Is it worth risking your health for the sake of beauty, when these days there are more and more natural alternatives available in our retail stores, supermarkets and online so we can have a more natural way to enhance our beauty. Without the extra costs!
Beauty and Fashion Tips For Plus Sized Women
It doesn’t matter if you are skinny and tall, short, or if you are a plus sized woman – you can look incredibly beautiful and really turn some heads, if you simply had a few tools and tips to work with! Celebs like Delta Burke have clearly shown us that even plus sized women can be beautiful and stylish. The trick is in knowing what clothes to wear, what colors to chose from, and what accessories to wear. When choosing your wardrobe, the whole cliche about “black covering up fat” isn’t necessarily true.
If you look good in dark colors, awesome. Don’t listen to me! However, choosing the same colors for jackets and pants that are the same hue is also a really good idea as well because you aren’t sectioning off areas. It’s all ONE area which makes you look sinner. You can also wear blouses in a contrasting color as well if you needed to add a flair of drama to the outfit. When choosing colors and pattern think vertical not horizontal. Bold buttons down the jacket or shirt, a long necklace, vertical stripes – these are all ways to think vertical and they can help tremendously! It’s also important to wear colors that you feel good in.
Don’t like red? Don’t wear it! Love blue? Slap it on or add accents such as a shirt, or a necklace or a scarf. You can always tie in colors, you don’t necessarily have to have “loud” colors on in order to look better. In fact, I prefer not to wear loud colors. I stay away from pink, oranges and yellows at all cost! There is one thing that a lot of plus sized women do – they don’t wear the right sizes. If you are an eighteen don’t try fitting into a sixteen! All this ends up doing is accentuating those areas where you don’t want it to accentuate!
For example, if you don’t like your butt, and you buy a really tight pair of jeans, chances are your butt is going to look larger, so if this is something you want to avoid, then don’t wear tight jeans! Same goes with shirts or dresses as well! If you are out shopping someplace and you aren’t sure about a specific size or outfit or piece of clothing – ask the sales girl. These girls are more than likely willing to give their advice about any fashion tips you need. Been there done that myself! You could also take a friend along with you as well if you are too embarrassed to ask a sales person to give you advice.
Most friends will be brutally honest about how you look, some are not. If you have a variety of friends pick the honest one! Also, if you like wearing jewelry, try to follow the “wear the right size” cliche above. Don’t wear tiny little earrings or necklaces. Try wearing things like chunky bracelets like bangles, or long flowing necklaces! So you see just because you are a plus sized woman doesn’t mean you have to feel embarrassed or “out of place”. I believe that all women are equally attractive in their own ways.
And a lot of people are going to look past the outside, and see the inside. This is what I try to remind myself when I’m having a bad hair day or something of the likes. If they don’t look inside and all they care about is your looks? It’s not a person you would want to have in your life anyway. YOU are beautiful just the way you are and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
